Jesus Is The Word of God
The Gospel of John 1:1-14
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Who does the Bible say the Word of God is?
1John 1:1-7
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; 2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)(*In the person of His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. * Not included in the scripture. Added only to clarify.) 3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
This scripture is one of the most enlightening parts of the Word of God that shows us what a true Christian is. For God's Word, written or spoken in truth, is always given by the Holy Spirit and His Power always confirms the truth and lays it out in no uncertain terms. If the Holy Spirit has control over the Christian's spirit He truly says to our spirit: "Walk with Jesus in the Light of His Word which is His Love and have no fellowship with the world at all." The Word says if we say we have fellowship with God and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not have the truth. If we walk in the Light of God's Love, as Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith in the Light of Godly Love, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleanses us from all sin. This is a very important statement that we should take heed for any part of the world, no matter how innocent it may sound to the carnal person who does not have the Holy Spirit guiding his every step into the Godly Love of Jesus is remaining in the ever lurking darkness of the sin of carnal thinking.
The Word of God says that to remain carnal is to remain in death. So the Word of God spoken to our spirit by the Holy Spirit of Truth, says have no fellowship with the things of the world or what any part of the world would represent. The Word states further that if we walk in the Light as Jesus is in the light we would walk with Jesus as He would direct our lives through the Holy Spirit who is supposed to have complete control over our lives. If we do this than the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. This is very important to understand, for the person who is not under the control of the Holy Spirit of Truth is in dire danger of the blood not covering his sin and his soul is in danger of being lost forever.
It is very important to yield to the Holy Spirit and let Him take control over each Christian's spirit. Each Christian that yields to the Holy Spirit knows that the work of the Holy Spirit only Glorifies Jesus. If the Holy Spirit is allowed to do His Work properly in the professing Christian's life that person will only involve himself with using his time wisely to let the Holy Spirit Glorify Jesus in his limited time here on earth. Without Holy Spirit Power in our lives we have no true faith to believe fully in what the Word of God teaches and there is no real discernment of truth. In the natural mind of men who remain in their sin their soul takes control of their spirit and thus it becomes the opposite of what is supposed to be happening in the Christian, for the true Christian lets the Holy Spirit take complete control of his spirit to govern his soul which is the seat of his affection. If he does not let the Spirit of God take control there will not be any born again experience and the blood of Jesus will not cover his sin. Thus he remains in eternal death instead of eternal life.
Without Holy Spirit Power in our lives everything becomes interpretation by our own natural and carnal thinking. Thus the person without Holy Spirit Power in control of his life will only let His thinking be limited to his own ideas of what is acceptable unto God. He will also limit God to what his ideas of God's Power is and he will make excuse why God's Power is not there in his life to fulfill all that Jesus said will follow and confirm truth in ministry as it states in the Gospel of Mark, chapter 16:15-20 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. 19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. 20 And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen..
If the Holy Spirit has control over our lives we will only have Jesus on our minds and hearts, because the work of the Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus in those who Jesus is the Head of their lives. Everything else that takes up our time out side of our securlar work that we are to make our living by is controlled by the world and what the world represents as the darkness that we were drawn out of in the first place. In every part of the Word of God there is a clear understanding of who we are to listen to, God or man. The world chooses to listen to and go along with man's own thinking in man's own knowledge, wisdom and power that is completely flawed by sin. It is made clear in the truth of the Word of God that we should have no fellowship with any part of the world. In the natural thinking of those who want to be religious, but refuse to yield to the Holy Spirit of Truth it becomes interpretation on their part and would indicate how they determine what the world is.
This is a great challenge to all Christians: To determine in our own heart what the world is we must first take a good look at ourselves and where we came from. All of us came from the world of sin and our own mind which is our soul controlling us, keeping us distant from God. Is God yet seeing us in the sin of what controls our lives from the world? Is the thoughts of the world consuming our time or is His very thoughts controlling our lives and showing us what He wants us to do with our time? Are we living in a world controlled by His thoughts now or are we still thinking our own thoughts on all matters? What ever takes up our time outside of the work of the Lord at this moment is the world, no matter how innocent it may seem. The Word of God, coming from the mouth of the highest authority in Heaven and earth, says many are called, but few are chosen. The ones who are chosen are those who let the Holy Spirit control their spirit.
So we see in the Gospel of John the first chapter and in First John the first chapter that Jesus is the Word of God. Further proof is the statement made in Revelation 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And in First John 5:7. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
Why is it important to know the Word of God?
One of the most important reasons is what Jesus said in Matthew 24:35. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my Word shall not pass away. To discern this in truth would be that if we let the Word of God be sealed in our hearts by the Holy Spirit it is our key to eternal life. The Word of God is our purification, our guide to show us how we are to keep our lives clean from sin. Our teacher is the Holy Spirit of Truth. If the Holy Spirit has truly taken up residence in our being and we follow where ever He leads than His Power takes control and the Word of God comes in and gives the necessary healing that changes us and heals us from the worldly things in our lives. The Word of God also cleanses us from the world that we experience every day. We are in the world, but we are not a part of the world.
Interpretation, The Un-regenerated's Way -
Discernment, Truth as Given by the Holy Spirit of Truth
There are two ways to look at the Word of God. Men in the natural, and are not really born again and do not have the Holy Spirit of Truth dwelling within look at the Word of God with a natural and misaligned spirit, soul and body that all men are like when they are still living in sin before they receive Jesus and have the Holy Spirit of Truth guiding them into all truth. The scholarly un-regenerated look at the Word of God and it becomes interpretation to them. It can be many different interpretations and many cannot agree. Many follow these different interpretations because most people in religion follow learned men who have the credentials to give what they consider the best interpretation. There were no men who were more learned than the scribes and the Pharisees, but Jesus, the way the truth and the Life, called them hypocrites.
Then there are those who have Jesus in their heart and follow the Holy Spirit where ever He will lead them. They cannot leave the Word of God like the preachers in the first church could not leave the Word of God. By truly having the Holy Spirit dwelling within they allow the Holy Spirit to show them truth from the Word of God and this changes them from the natural man they used to be to the spiritually controlled man that God wants them to be. It is a Spiritual healing and those who have this healing will have the mind of Christ giving them the ability to know God's Love and let this love rule their lives (1Corinthians 2:7-16 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but by the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.) All who let the Holy Spirit speak this truth to their heart will be able to discern truth as the Holy Spirit would speak in His still small voice the pure Word of God to their hearts. They will allow the Holy Spirit to bear witness to their spirit that the pure things of God from the Word of God should be governing their lives. Those who have an ear to hear the Holy Spirit will know the pure Word of God is life and they have Power in their lives to receive the Word in truth and in Power. At this discernment of Truth the Word of God has Power to give eternal life because people who have the Power within to receive truth know what pleases God. They will have an ear to hear the Holy Spirit and they will obey the Word of God because the Holy Spirit will lead them into all truth.
Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
This is a powerful statement that shows another reason we must let the Holy Spirit lead and guide us through the Word of God. Jesus said that when He goes away The Father will send another Comforter, the Holy Spirit of Truth. The Gospel of John 14:26 states: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. The proof of this statement is when the Holy Spirit came upon these men and they were able to write the Word of God, the exact words that Jesus spoke while He walked this earth. Keep bearing in mind, Jesus is the Word and His Words are the pure Word of God, or direct from the purest source in Heaven and on earth.
In the King James Bible the Word refers to the Holy Spirit as the Comforter. I prefer the use of the word Comforter because the Holy Spirit was sent to us to dwell within those who accept Jesus as their personal Savior. There is a personal Comfort to all who let the Word of God come into their heart. I know that there were many times in my life when I was feeling down and needed the Comfort that the Power and Presence of the Holy Spirit gave me when I sought the answers to my problems in the proper way, by humbleness and prayer. Through prayer I was led directly to the Word of God and it was a true comfort to me.
John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
John 14:12-15 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. 15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
The Word of God affects everything. It affects salvation first of all for we are to follow the Holy Spirit and let Him seal this Glorious Word into our hearts. We are to let the Word of God cleanse us from the world. The Word of God affects our prayer life and gives us faith, hope and love. It affects our faith, for the more we know in the Spirit the more faith He will give to believe that all things are possible. Also in hope we can believe that all things that the Word says will come about with nothing lacking or hindering to give more faith to believe that all things are possible. It affects how we love one another. We read in the Word of God that love is the most important factor in our salvation. Love is the key to everything, if we Love God first in receiving His Word into our heart, His Holy Spirit will definitely cause us to start loving the way He wants us to love our neighbor.
I believe that what ever comes out of our mouths that makes a statement of faith better be as the Word of God states in truth as the Holy Spirit would give the truth or we are in trouble with faith, hope and Love. For all things that come from the unspiritual mind will hinder all things that we expect to happen when we pray as a Christian. It will even affect our Christian experience and prove if the Holy Spirit is dwelling within and working the Wonderful Works of God in our lives or not. It is all up to us in what we want to do in our lives, yield to the Holy Spirit to give us the Word of God or not have true faith to believe the Word completely.
John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
John 16:13-15 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. 15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
It is so important to let the still small voice of the Holy Spirit speak the truth of the Word of God to all our hearts. Remember, I repeat again Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. It is that important to know right from wrong that we let the Holy Spirit seal the truth of God's Word in our heart so that the world, no matter how inocent it may seem to be, is truly distinguishable to our spirit and soul what sin is and what pleases God and what doesn't please Him. There is one thing clear and it is in the prayer that Jesus taught us to pray. It says Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. What ever we will be doing in Heaven, we should be doing down here also. We should be having fellowship with the Lord at all times. In the beginning when He made man, He made him to have fellowship with Him. Having a continous fellowship with the Lord is what being a Christian is all about. If we are not having that fellowship right now, a twenty-four seven fellowship, where we think of our God at all times we then are not pleasing unto Him. When I think of what we will be doing in our Heavenly Home I think of God's Glory surrounding our complete being at all times in our eternal life with Him. We should be letting His Holy Spirit rule our lives now instead of letting the things of the world fog over our spirit, mind and heart so that we are letting these things take over our lives. Our God will be in full control of our lives in Heaven. We should be letting Him have full control of our full life here on earth.
