Jesus Said He That believeth On Me,
The Works That I Do Shall He Do Also
John 14:10-14 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. 12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
If we are to truly believe the Word of God and keep the Word of God in our hearts, we must believe that what ever Jesus said is truth. What ever is written was written according to thus saith the Lord and we cannot get around this truth no matter what some little minds come up with in interpretational conclusions. If the Power of God is with us and in us we must believe that what ever we ask unselfishly will come about. If it doesn’t come about, then we must examine our hearts or surrender all to Him to let the Holy Spirit lead us further. However, we must wait upon the Lord for everything. His answers come in His time. Sometimes the answers are instantly, and other times they take years.
We cannot reach out to God in our own way. We must reach out to Him according to thus saith the Lord and let His Power Work His Wonderful Works of Spiritual and physical healing in our lives. People these days are so conditioned with their own religious customs and cultural worship and activities and what ever other cultural aspects that ride along with these things, or just whatever becomes important to each one, that it is difficult for real Godly truth to grow in their heart. I know from personal experience that it is too hard for a great many people’s minds to interpret what true belief is. If these are the conditions that people have grown accustomed to, then the Lord knows their heart. Sometimes people get desperate enough when they lose their health or a loved one loses their health or something else so drastic happens that they will turn their life over to the Lord. Again He sees their heart if they are sincere or not.
Jesus had great compassion upon people when He walked this earth. I believe He has the same compassion now as He had then. Jesus said that greater works will be done by those who believe than even what He did because He goes to the Father. This is important to note because Jesus is our Great High Priest that makes intercession for us in all matters, whether it be physical, spiritual or other. We are supposed to pray, but there are some who suppose that there are only some who have the authority as priests to intercede for others. As stated before, Jesus is our intercessor and He is the only one whose name we may invoke before the Throne of God.
Some people have been filled with the Spirit and have certain gifts of the Spirit. They are those who have allowed themselves to be emptied of self. Dying to self is very important when seeking to work for the Lord. I believe that very few ministers in this world would even know what it would truly mean to die to self and let the Lord have their lives completely. The Lord fills certain empty vessels with Power for service in ministry, but that is all they are, just emptied vessels, emptied of self. They are humble before the Lord, humbled so as to let the Power of the Holy Spirit work through them the Wonderful Works of God.
In the beginning of the church that started in the upper room we see men who are filled with the Holy Spirit when the Holy Spirit was first sent to them for Power for Service. These men waited upon the Lord, and were praying earnestly for the Comforter to come. When He came, just like Jesus had promised, He overshadowed them and brought to them Power from upon High. There was no Power of God with men before the Holy Spirit was given. He came with fire and touched the 120 in the Upper Room. Fire is something the Lord consumes with and He consumed the sin and worldly way in them, instantly changing them to His way, His Godly Pure Way. When God’s Power came upon them they had no power of their own.
I believe people err when they bring the Power of God into the same view as their own power. For I have seen preachers that were called powerful preachers and all they had was a great and powerful oratorical voice that would seem powerful in some instances. You know there are a lot of men and women who have learned a certain charismatic technic that would put them into the same category as the “powerful” preacher. These things seem to stir the emotions of the people. It also happens in all the wrong instances and sinful places. I have a dictionary in my computer that gives this definition of “oratorical”:rhetorical, eloquent, declamatory, bombastic, loud, noisy, stentorian, pompous, theatrical, stylistic, expressive, forceful, persuasive, fervid, vivid, elocutionary, intoning, senatorial, gesturing, gesticulative, elaborate, impassioned, lofty, noble, high-sounding, inflated, orotund, tumid, grandiloquent, dramatic, histrionic, artificial, important, stagy, imposing, ostentatious, in the grand style.
When Jesus spoke, there was no such thing that came into view. Jesus had the Godly quality of being able to speak to the crowds of people, thousands and thousands of people at a time and I believe He was heard by them all. There were no sound systems in those days, but the impression that I get from the Word of God is the fact that there was no great and booming voice of a man trying to work himself up and the crowd up in a frenzy so the crowd would be emotionally impressed and taken over by something great and powerful and human. Rather, when the voice is projected by the Power of God everyone hears it in their heart.
I have been in the true presence of God many times and His Power was so great that it was completely humbling and overwhelming to the point that I must be still and know that He is God. For years I had the privilege of listening to what I consider the only Holy Spirit filled minister I have ever really known of in my whole life. This was in my younger years and now that I am in my later years I have still never met anyone quite like the minister that had the filling of the Holy Spirit for true Power for service. In preaching and teaching services this person used a microphone, but hardly had to raise the voice above a certain calm level and even sometimes it was not much more than a whisper, but the voice was heard. In prayer services the minister’s voice was hardly heard, but there was power there for people to believe and there was power there to take control of people’s lives. God’s Power was there to not only heal Spiritually, but also physically. We do not know how the Lord does these things, nor in what way the people are thinking or believing at the time, but the Lord will do what He will do and we cannot explain anything really how the Lord does these things. We can believe what He does and that is good enough for me. I have felt His Power changing me and in certain instances I have felt Him deep within like a great and wonderful healing of my inner most being and then many times I have also felt His Power healing me physically.
I must admit that the Lord has kept me all of my life in a healing way, for I should not have been here much past my sixteenth year on this earth. I am so grateful for all that He has done for me. If in this writing it sounds like I am bashing preachers, in some ways I am, but there are so few that really deserve the positions that they hold in this world. I believe that people hold the religious positions that they have mostly by their own power or the power of the organization they are ordained into and not by the Power of God.
